Marvel's Eternals Trailer: Check out the final trailer

Marvel has ramped up its marketing for Eternals in recent weeks, with many new trailers and character profiles released across its social media channels.

The studio is also busy releasing trailers ahead of The Eternals' arrival, with the latest giving us a better look at specific parts of the film. There's footage of the various powers of the Eternals in action, a first look at the villainous Deviants, some moments involving the Celestials, and some fun moments for you to enjoy.

Check out the latest trailer above and read on for the first trailer for the film, which dropped earlier this year.

The first trailer for Marvel's The Eternals was released on May 24th. Having received a second trailer, however, we have a better idea of how the film will play out.jfit into the wider MCU.

Talk aboutWowill fit into the main MCU timeline and produce EternalsNate Moore confirmedthat the film "takes place around the same time as Spider-Man: Far From Home, while the world is recovering from Thanos' attack and half of the world's population is returning." So it looks like the events of The Eternals will play out in line with those that took place in Spider-Man's second solo release.

Marvel's The Eternals Cast: Who's Playing Who?

Marvel's The Eternals: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and What We Know So Far (3)

The Eternals has a stacked cast that could rival any Avengers movie. You can see why by checking out the list of confirmed actors below:

  • Gemma Chan als Sersi
  • Richard Madden als Icaris
  • Kumail Nanjiani from Kingo
  • Lia McHugh als Sprite
  • Brian Tyree Henry als Phastos
  • Lauren Ridloff als Makkari
  • Barry Keoghan von Druig
  • Don Lee als Gilgamesch
  • Kit Harington als Dane Whitman
  • Salma Hayek and Ajak
  • Angelina Jolie als Thena

There are some big names associated with this film, but, perhaps surprisingly, Jolie and Madden aren't the main stars.

This role is reserved for Chan (peopleRaya and the last dragon), which MCU fans will recognize as Captain Marvel's Minn-Erva. As Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige saiddiversity(opens in new tab)in April: "If there was a protagonist in this ensemble, it's Sersi, it's Gemma Chan."

Our entertainment reporter Tom Power saw the film and we can understand why Sersi positions herself as the "protagonist" of the film. Everyone has their moment to shine, so Eternals is more of an ensemble cast than other "solo" MCU films.

The list of superpowers each Eternal possesses is extensive. As Zhao previously said, five of the 10 Eternals members are considered the fighters and the rest are considered the thinkers of the group.

Sersi can manipulate matter, such as turning water into ice or dry land into farmland. Meanwhile, Ikaris possesses superhuman flight, strength, and the ability to fire bolts of energy from his eyes. Think Superman and you're on the right track.

Kingo can fire cosmic projectiles from his hands, and unlike most Eternals, he is happiest in the spotlight. As such, she poses as a Bollywood star today. The Sprite Child is an illusionist, meaning it can conjure up images to distract people or transform objects into something of its own choosing.

Makkari is the MCU version of the Flash, so his main superpower is superhuman speed. She also throws a punch when she is at full speed. Phastos is the inventor of the Eternals and is tasked with developing weapons and other technologies that will help both the group and humans.

Druig possesses mind control abilities, allowing him to possess and control anyone whose mind is more malleable than his own. Gilgamesh can project an exoskeleton of cosmic armor that will serve the strongest of the Eternals well in battle. He's also the toughest character from a physical strength perspective, and one hit can regularly knock out opponents.

Ajak is the group's healer and the bridge between the Eternals and the Celestials. So it seems that it will play a crucial role in the process. Thena can fashion any weapon of her choice from cosmic energy, including swords, spears, and shields. Like Gilgamesh, she is an experienced fighter.

Finally, some Marvel fans will know that Whitman possesses a mystical sword that grants him the powers of the Black Knight: a magic-resistant individual, a skilled swordsman, and a gifted strategist. However, Harington wanted to emphasize (byWhole movie(opens in new tab)) that Whitman is not an Eternal.

Also when asked if his character would be appearing in more MCU films in the future, Harington added, "I have no idea if my character will continue or not. I've read about who it might or might be. So there is a possibility of a longer trajectory. And hopefully I think that's the tip of the iceberg for my character.

While Harington was reticent in his response, Moore saidComicbook.com(opens in new tab): "He will not necessarily be a Black Knight, but we will play with that in the future." So expect more Dane Whitman in the MCU in the future.

Away from the main cast, Haaz Sleiman (The Visitor) plays Phastos' husband and Ozer Ercan a smuggler. Harish Patel (Run Fatboy Run) also plays a character named Karun, who is now Kingo's servant and personal assistant.

Since the release of the second trailer, we also know who one of the film's main villains will be. A deviant named Kro that fans of the comics should be aware of will be making his debut in Eternals. Additionally, while speaking to Collider for the sci-fi romance I'm Your Man, Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, Beauty and the Beast) appeared to confirm that he will voice the Deviant leader in The Eternals.

Having seen the film, however, we can confirm that Stevens isNOPlaying Cro Let's not spoil the surprise here, but the former doesn't express that particular character.

The Eternals will also star Arishem the Judge, one of the most prominent Celestials in the MCU. We won't reveal who voices this character for spoiler reasons, but you should know him when you see him.

Finally, there were leaks surrounding a character in one of the film's post-credits scenes. Again, we won't reveal who this actor is or the person he's playing. So if you're one of the lucky ones who didn't see the leak, word of advice: mute all Eternals-related words on social media. In fact, it might be best to stay away from social media altogether until you see the film. That way they won't screw you up.

Marvel's Eternals: Who Are the Cosmic Super Heroes?

Marvel's The Eternals: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and What We Know So Far (4)

The Eternals emerged from the mind of Jack Kirby, the person who helped create legendary characters such as Captain America, Fantastic Four, Thor, Hulk, Iron Man and the X-Men. After creating the New Gods for DC, Kirby was clearly enamored with the idea of immortal godlike individuals, so he built on a similar premise when he returned to Marvel in the 1970s.

The comic book series Eternals, which debuted in July 1976, was not a commercial success and was canceled before Kirby's stories were settled. The characters have made numerous appearances over the decades since, including a notable crossover with Thor, and had arguably their most successful run when Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr. They received a seven-issue reboot in 2006.

So who are they? Although they appear human, the Eternals are actually immortal humanoids from space that have lived on Earth for thousands of years.

Like the X-Men, they all have their own unique abilities, but in a similar Power Ranger/Voltron twist, they can combine into a powerful entity known as the Uni-Mind. We got a glimpse of this merging of minds in the film's first trailer, so expect that to be part of the process.

The Eternals often use their powers for good, and every band of superheroes needs an antagonistic team to fight against. This position is reserved for the Deviants, a rival race who, unlike the Eternals, are abnormal creatures due to their genetic mutation.

(Video) How Marvel Heroes Feel About The New Eternals Movie

No two deviants are alike, and while they have their own superhuman abilities (such as fire breathing, matter manipulation, and shapeshifting), they are looked down upon by the Eternals and the creators of both groups in the Celestials. As such, the dissenters grew jealous of their immortal counterparts, so much so that war raged between the two factions for millennia.

We've seen a Deviant in the form of Thanos before in the MCU. And since he was instrumental in the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, it's no surprise that the Eternals finally decided to show their face. You'll find out why the Eternals didn't join the fight to stop Thanos as part of the film's plot.

Who the Celestials are, they are ancient cosmic beings who actually created the Marvel Universe. They have the ability to create and destroy life as they see fit, and are the individuals behind the birth of Eternals, Deviants, and Humans.

Incidentally, we've seen the Celestials make brief appearances in other MCU films.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 we got two glimpses of this cosmic group. The first was when the Guardians traveled to the city of Knowhere, built from the remains of a dead Celestial's skull.

The second, however, is when the Collector shows the Guardians what the Power Stone really is. During this sequence, it was Eson the Seeker who used the Power Stone to destroy an unknown planet and its ruling species, something Celestials do regularly throughout the comics in a process known as the Host Event.

Later, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it is revealed that Ego, Star-Lord's father, is also a Celestial. However, he takes the form of a planet, suggesting that not all Celestials are in human or android form.

Marvel's Eternals Plot: What do we know about the story?

Marvel's The Eternals: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and What We Know So Far (5)

like the movieofficial summaryreveals: “The Eternals from Marvel Studios introduces to the Marvel Cinematic Universe an exciting new team of superheroes, ancient aliens who have roamed the earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them from the shadows to battle mankind's oldest enemy, the Deviants.

Little is known to the general public about the film's plot, other than the fact that it will span 7,000 years of human history (egweekly entertainment(opens in new tab)). The Eternals arrive on Earth in their spaceship, also known as the Dome, and viewers may wonder how (and why) they ended up here in the first place.

This and more will be revealed throughout the film, including the MCU's portrayal before "someone was born," as Zhao recently put it.Whole movie(opens in new tab). So there will be sequels that show the Celestials in more detail or how the universe came to be, with Zhao noting that "anything related to the Celestials is going to have a level of large-scale complications, let's put it that way".

We also know that an event called "Emergency" will be the focus of the film. As Ajak Ikaris relates in the second trailer, when the Avengers revived half the universe after Thanos wiped them out in Infinity War, the sudden surge of cosmic energy brought Emergence to life.

It's possible that Emergence is the MCU name for the host events mentioned above. Having watched the film now, however, we can confirm that this is not the case. No spoilers for what this entails.

But we have deviated. Thanos' cross-universe plan of genocide was enough to convince the Eternals to come out of hiding and that the Deviants and Celestials will play their respective roles in the film's development. Someone needs to step up and save the day by disbanding the Avengers, so who better than a group of secretive superheroes?

How the Eternals will affect the MCU has been revealed by Zhao (in a separate article).Whole movie(opens in new tab)article) that while the film stands on its own, she "believes that what happens in this film will have a pretty big impact on the future of the MCU. Which makes me very happy as a fan.” ! I get excited".

separatedFandango(opens in new tab)In the interview, Zhao further elaborated by saying, "I think a big part of [The Eternals] is that the audience will discover the origin of the MCU through the mythology of the Celestials. I think by the end of the film we will have a new understanding of "planet earth's relationship to the cosmos and also to its own inhabitants".

Marvel's The Eternals is a welcome new chapter for the MCU

Marvel's The Eternals: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and What We Know So Far (6)

Marvel can afford to take some risks after Endgame. You can expect Eternals to have a similar balance of comedy and drama as any other MCU film, which was certainly demonstrated in the film's trailers.

As with the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, you might need to see it in action to really understand why these characters are compelling, but the story shows that Feige and co have a way of introducing new aspects of the MCU.

This also includes more inclusion. The Eternals plays the first openly gay superhero in Henry's Phastos, while Ridloff's Makkari is the first deaf actor to appear in a Marvel film. Ridloff will be followed by another deaf actress in the upcoming Marvel movie, Alaqua Cox.Hawkeye Disney Plus-Serie, proving that the studio is diversifying its superhero lineup even more than before.

Marvel has been criticized in the past for its predominantly white roster of male superheroes, so it promises better diversity and representation in Marvel's Eternals.

(Video) Everything We Know So Far About Marvel's Eternals

In conversation withModa(opens in new tab), Jolie revealed that Marvel's "commitment to expanding the way we view 'superheroes'" was key to her signing for the film, while Hayek saiddiversity(opens in new tab)that Marvel's vice president of motion picture production, Victoria Alonso, looks forward to the studio representing more people in its films in the future. forever, willpowerbe unlike any previous MCU film we've seen before.

also said RidloffWhole movie(opens in new tab)that she feels that "with more representation and diversity within the MCU, that sense of optimism and 'I can' will become stronger and more tangible.

With its top-notch cast, Zhao's vision, and Disney's support, Marvel Studios could have another winning film in Marvel's Eternals, despite what some critics think.
