The Colts have had no luck finding a long-term answer at quarterback since Andrew Luck's unexpected retirement before the 2019 season. They have had seven starters in four years.
They tried free agency, the draft and the trade market.
In the post-Luck era, the Colts are 31-34 with one playoff appearance and no playoff wins.
The Colts, who have the fourth overall pick, are expected to pick a quarterback after hiring Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen as their new head coach.
"Shane had a lot of offensive magic, which is hard to find in this league," Colts owner Jim Irsay said Tuesday. “In my opinion, the attack can be a bit more complex and it takes more time to develop because we know we need to find a young defender to develop it. That is a key factor, but he had to show leadership, he had to show that he had a presence and boy did he get it in his interview.
Steichen, 37, helped develop it.justin herbertmijalen hurts. He will need to develop another young quarterback in 2023, Irsay admitted Tuesday.
Irsay also revealed that he likes Alabama quarterback Bryce Young in an offhand comment on a question about a potential trade.
"That guy from Alabama doesn't look bad, I'll tell you what," Irsay said.
The Colts may have to act to get Young if they want that. The Texans, second overall, are also in the quarterback market.
Ohio State's CJ Stroud, Kentucky's Will Levis and Florida's Will Levis are also highly-qualified candidates for the position.
"I think accuracy, decision making and design ability are the three things I look for in a quarterback," Steichen said. "About the neck, I think the players I've worked with -- Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert and Philip Rivers -- all have one thing in common: They're obsessed with their craft. If you can find that in a quarterback, chances are they'll be successful".

Derek Carrdisappeared after nine years. Who will be the Raiders quarterback this year?
Trainer Josh McDaniels has plenty of options. It makes sense for him to keep an eye out for someone McDaniels has worked with in the past, as well as newcomers he might be interested in.
In our opinion, these are among the top candidates.Jarret Stidham, who performed well when he was pushed to work after the Raiders decided to send Carr home to avoid an injury that would have triggered his $40.4 million guarantee if he hadn't passed a physical today the same day he was cut. But Stidham has to become a free agent. He can go and sign whoever he wants.
Other free agents could catch McDaniels' attention.Jimmy Garoppoloit becomes more obvious. It will enter the market. McDaniels could decide to meet with the player McDaniels has worked with for more than three seasons.
Some other names have ties to McDaniels.jacoby brissetthas Patriot Way DNA. He started most of Cleveland's games in 2022 and has shown he deserves a shot somewhere. McDaniels could give it to you.
what's upmac jones? After the season ended, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked if Jones would start for the team in 2023. Belichick would not respond to the question, instead saying Jones proved he could play in this season. league. Perhaps a trade could happen that pairs Jones with the former Patriots offensive coordinator, who helped Jones have a solid rookie season.
There is one more name to watch. Just before the 2018 draft, McDaniels went on a silent practice withBäcker Mayfield. The Patriots liked him; They just couldn't catch it. Mayfield is a free agent next month, and McDaniels witnessed firsthand what Mayfield could accomplish with limited preparation on a Thursday night when Mayfield overturned a 16-3 deficit to beat the Raiders.
Those are the names we'll be looking at now, as the name "Derek Carr" appeared in Transaction Reports as published by the Raiders just months after they signed him to an extension, the McDaniels due to just 15 games wanting to get away.

[editor's note: The following story is based on a report fromsports business journal. For more information on this report, see the update at the end of the article.]
In an offseason where attempts could and should be made to renew the Chiefs' quarterback's contract.patricio mahomesTo better reflect the market and the salary cap, his agents went their separate ways. Actually nothing has changed.
liz mullenssports business journalreported Tuesday that Leigh Steinberg and Chris Cabott are splitting up. Cabbott, who was CEO of Steinberg Sports & Entertainment, will launch Equity Sports.
"Steinberg Sports has been around since 1975 and will continue to thrive," Steinberg said in a phone interview with Mullen. "We wish Chris the best and thank him for 10 years of diligent service."
Steinberg and Cabbott are the designated agents in Mahomes' contract. They will continue to represent Mahomes together.
"Today's announcement marks the culmination of a process that began two years ago when Yucaipa Companies acquired an equity stake in SSE and legendary SSE founder Leigh Steinberg formed her company, Steinberg Speaks," Cabbott said in a statement to Mullen. . "We wish Leigh the best in his continued endeavors outside the agency and look forward to the future of Equity Sports."
There's no reason to think the issue will affect Mahomes' representation, no reason to expect disagreements between the two agents, as the long-term deal Mahomes signed in 2020 after his third season will soon be stale.
UPDATE 10:30 p.m. m. ET: Despite the way the SBJ was drafted, we were told there was no split between Steinberg and Cabbott. It was an agency rebrand. The recent change was more of a rebrand and less of a split. It reflects how the company's business has been conducted over the past two years. More importantly for these purposes, it does not affect the representation of Patrick Mahomes.

The Eagles have 19 free agents, and one of them at the top of the list is cornerback.james bradberry. The call to retain him in third place with 1:48 left in Super Bowl LVII dwarfed the season he had.
Bradberry was a second-team All-Pro with three interceptions and 17 pass breakups.
But could his first season in Philly be his last season in Philly?
He signed a one-year, $7.5 million contract after being released by the Giants last offseason. The Eagles may not be able to keep himkill darioBy 2023 there should be a cap of US$26 million.
Bradberry said Tuesday that his agent has not yet entered into negotiations with the Eagles.
"I don't know what they're doing there, andI didn't want to askabout it because I just wanted my mind to be on football," Bradberry said of the Associated Press' Kevin Cooney. "But we'll talk about that soon."
Bradberry wants to be somewhere where he can win, but he also realizes that he wants to get paid.
"It's pretty hard to come up with a percentage that's more important," Bradberry said of the 94 WIP Eliot Shorr-Parks video. "It's just on a case-by-case basis. But I know those two things are probably the most important to me: being on a good roster, having the ability to make the playoffs and win the playoffs, but alsoI don't wanna play cheap, Know."

The Titans once again expanded their offensive coaching staff.
According to multiple reports, Justin Outten will join the team as the running game coordinator and running backs coach. Outten spent last season as the Broncos' offensive coordinator and delisted other teams after the season ended.
Outten called offensive plays in Denver for two games after Nathaniel Hackett was fired as head coach. He was the tight ends coach at Green Bay for three years before moving to Denver and also coaching for the Falcons.
The Titans promoted Tim Kelly to offensive coordinator last week in a series of trades that also saw Tony Dews switch from running backs coach to tight ends coach. Luke Steckel transitioned from tight end coach to game analyst and the Titans also hired Charles London as their new quarterbacks coach and passing coordinator.

attack playerDerek Carrhe got a one-month start in free agency. It's a great position where he can talk to other teams, visit other teams and eventually sign other teams before any of the upcoming free agents become available.
So where will he go? After he was banned in December, we painted with him.widest brush possibleabout your possible travel destinations. Now Sportsbook has listed the odds for Carr's next team.
Earlier today, PointsBet updated their chart. The Panthers are +140 favorites, with the Saints (a team that visited Carr last week) at +150.
They are followed by the Jets at +275, the Buccaneers at +800, the Commanders at +1400, the Patriots at +1400, the Titans at +1800, the Colts at +2000, the Falcons at +2000, the Packers at +2000, and texas to +4000.
Commanders will not rely on coach Ron Riverathe registered comments of the last week. The Patriots don't seem like an option since McDaniels didn't do well at Patriot Way West last season. And the Colts appear to have veered off the "veteran quarterback" bandwagon.
The Jets have become intriguing since Todd Downing, the Raiders' former quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator, became New York's interim coordinator.
For the Panthers to be favorites, sportsbooks have to know something. And given the team's difficulty finding a great quarterback, why not find someone who was good enough?
Long shots are generally difficult to defend against. That's probably why they're long shots.

What was expected so much now becomes officialDerek Carrhe was released by the Raiders.
Carr was in the league's personal statement issued Tuesday afternoon.
General manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels issued a joint statement regarding the move.
"We have great respect for Derek Carr and what he has meant to the Raiders organization over the past nine years," the statement said. “Derek has done great things in this league and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him over the past year. He is a true professional and we appreciate his hard work to achieve the results we all want. We wish Derek and his family all the best for the future."
Carr was a second-round pick in 2014 and ends his tenure with the Raiders as the franchise leader in passing yards (35,222) and touchdowns (217). He is second in franchise history with 63 wins, behind only Ken Stabler with 69. But the Raiders have only gone 63-79 in games Carr started in 2014-2022.
The car must have free market options and you can sign with any team at any time. The Raiders won't get a compensatory pick for Carr, who is signing elsewhere because he was fired.
The Raiders benched Carr and later released him to avoid paying him $40.4 million in guaranteed money after the club signed him to an extension last offseason.
As for Las Vegas, the club should also have options after freeing up significant salary cap space with the release of Carr.

super sundayBreath of Sunday! The reports included an article by NFL Media's Ian Rapoport stating that the Packers quarterbackAaron Rogersplanned forBegin your voluntary solitary confinement on Monday.
This did not happen. As evidenced by the fact that Rodgers stepped out in broad daylight Tuesday and performed his weekly paid concert with Pat McAfee and former Green Bay teammate A.J. Hawk. Rodgers took time out to denounce those who, in his opinion, had misinformed him.
"Hayan inner circle and in my inner circle, nobody talks to Ian Rapoport [or] Adam Schefter or any of those people," Rodgers said of MassLive.com's Chris Mason. "Stop the fake news. I speak for myself and will continue to do so.
"I don't have a problem with Ian Rapoport, [Adam] Schefter, I think they're doing a really good job. When it comes to me, they don't know anything. They really don't. You don't have people in my inner circle who are Fuentes. I can promise you that. Anyone who would want to talk to them is not in my inner circle. It's that simple. So I've had this plan on the books for four months at a time now. If someone like that goes on and says something that's not true, it comes up a story [expletive].(Usually the expletive is obvious and we add the actual word. In this case, I would only guess between three or four possible choices.)
It is not clear why Schefter was mentioned. He did not report that Rodgers nearly locked himself in a closet for 96 hours. Schefter's recent reporting on Rodgers hasn't opened up many real avenues beyond what Rodgers said, or that was obvious. For example, Schefter reported that there was a "very real possibilityThat Rodgers was traded days after Rodgers' comments to McAfee and Hawk made it clear it was indeed a trade.very real possibility.
"How many accounts [of swearing] can come from a [appearance last week] where they didn't even hear what I said?" Rodgers added. "Or the intent? Or the sound? Again, nothing against Rapoport, but he doesn't have anyone who legitimately knows what's going on in my life. For him to say something: 'Monday through Thursday I should be there.' , that was never the plan. That was not planned four months ago. So don't make up [sword words]. I don't have your number, you won't have my number, you're doing a great job, but not when it comes to my life, like this stop talking about it."
There is a difference between creating or building narratives and reporting facts. Rapoport recounted a fact. And he certainly got the information from a source that he believes is in the right position to know if it's accurate.
Hell, we can't rule out the possibility that Rodgers was so angered by the information from his inner circle that he changed his plans just to make the report look bad. It definitely wouldn't be the first time that a report's topic was switched to a new approach as soon as the old one came along, either out of spite or for genuinely strategic reasons.
Regardless, Rodgers has to realize that he can't have fame and attention on his own terms. If he regularly tells the world about his thoughts and plans, others will try to learn more about them. Others will speak up about it, possibly adopting narratives Rodgers didn't intend, since not all of them will accurately solve the beautiful mysteries he's trying to construct.
Aaron, if you want us to stop talking about you, there is one specific thing you can do to help make that happen.
Stop talking.

It all started with the publication of Smith-Schustera valentine's day on twitterwith Bradberry's face on it and read, "I'll hold you when it matters most."
It was a funny joke from Smith-Schuster, but Smith-Schuster might have wanted to stay out of it after Brown fired him.
"First of all congratulations. You deserve it," Brown wrote, before adding: "This is ridiculous. you were on your wayout of the league before Mahomes resumes his careeron your tik tok boy 1 year contract. He admitted to grabbing you but he doesn't fake it or never has. But again, congratulations!"
